  "This site recognizes the home server of visitors, but not their e-mail addresses. Data on visitors' home servers are aggregated for internal review and then discarded.

  "The names of persons who request information about the IA or its annual conferences are added to our data base so that they can receive future association mailings related to association programs and conferences.

  "The IA does not give, rent or sell its mailing lists to anyone -- including IA member companies.

  "Persons who do not wish to have their name included on the IA's mailing list should contact the association by phone (202-955-8091) by fax (202-955-8081) or by e-mail ia@internetalliance.org and their names will be deleted.

  "Persons who supply an e-mail address along with their physical address may also receive future communications from the association by e-mail. Persons who do not wish to receive these communications should notify the association by phone, fax or e-mail and their names will be deleted..."

• A lobby, I think... very careful folks -- hope the rest of us will not have to be this careful, online or off...

The Online Privacy Alliance

Versions of what is shown here have appeared online regularly, since 1992, as a feature of the FYI France ejournal, ISSN 1071-5916, which is distributed for free via email every month except August. The lists contain a selection only: new books and periodicals, and additional online digital information resources, develop in France every week, on the Minitel and the Internet -- one can be sure only that there are more, not fewer, than what is shown here online in France now.
